Week nine and feeling fine

I cannot believe it is already week nine of the semester and my internship at PublicSource. This time has flown by, and I'm excited to get some projects done in the weeks that I have left. Let's get into the week!
On Tuesday, I finally wrapped up the story about a new fertility clinic in the area that brands itself as being fully inclusive. The story is set to run next Wednesday, and I'm excited to get my second byline. I also had an interview with a lawyer who helped create Kayden's Law, a proposed law that has been gaining traction around the country and in Pennsylvania. Kayden's Law is crucial in the story I am working with a freelancer on, which is the use of parental alienation in cases of alleged abuse, as the law states that a parent with any history of abuse cannot have custody of a child without supervision.
I started my day Thursday by writing up my notes from Tuesday's interview. I also had several other interviews for the parental alienation story, talking with a state senator co-sponsoring Kayden's Law and a George Washington University law professor and researcher on instances where abusers get more custody, if not all, of a child and the overall improper use of parental alienation. I also started looking into the university endowments and conflicts of interest story that I plan to work with another reporter on and potential illegal labor practices at a local art museum. We did not have our weekly lunch-and-learn, but we did have our intern meeting, where we mainly touched base on what we are currently working on. Even though I do not get to see the other editorial intern that often, I am glad we get to touch base for about a half hour each week, having some peer support. All in all, it was a pretty good week.
