This week was my fifth week at PublicSource, which marks the one-third mark of the experience. It was a very busy week at the office, and I think I am finally sinking a bit more into what exactly PublicSource is and what the exact expectations are of my role as an intern.
On Monday, I had an interview with one of the co-founders of Mate Fertility, an inclusive clinic that is opening in the Pittsburgh area soon. This was very helpful for my story on the announcement of the clinic coming to the area and gave great background information on the company.
I hit the ground running on Tuesday. I started my day by running a fact-check on a story. I also called city council members to discuss the upcoming budget for the next year. I wrote up notes from interviews I had last week on the artificial intelligence (AI) in schools story I am working on, as well as the interview from the day before. In the afternoon, I had an interview with the CEO of Mate Fertility.
I continued calling city council members to talk about their plans for the upcoming budget planning season. I also continued trying to reach local school districts to talk about their current stance on AI in the classroom and any policies being made.
All in all, it was a pretty good week. I hope to wrap up some stories and get some more publications soon!
