This past week was filled with a lot of meetings and preparations for next semester. It is hard to believe that I will be editor-in-chief in the fall and have so much on my plate outside of my practicum that it is hard to focus on my goals for The Globe, but I think there is a great foundation to build upon next semester.
On Monday, things were pretty normal, as I ran the pitch meeting, worked on the news layout, and helped out staff with their pages. I think the news editor is getting much more comfortable, as well as I, with Adobe InDesign. Here is the Globe's Point from this week and opinion's piece that ran in the arts and entertainment section on true crime in the media in light of the Murdaugh Murders in the news lately.
For the rest of the week, I wrote an opinion's piece on the cost of sending official transcripts, the weekly news briefs and Globe's Point, and a news story on the first and bottom floors of the student center being renovated and turned into the new Professional Career Readiness Center office. I also worked on editing submissions for the week and assisting reporters.
