Major update on ongoing story

On Monday of this week, we awoke to some big news regarding an ongoing story for this semester, which is that work study students are facing reduced hours due to budget constraints. The email sent to the work study students said that students will only receive 5 hours to work a week until the program ultimately ends between March 19 and April 1. Because of this, I spent the majority of my day reaching out to administration for comments and finding and interviewing work study students. I was able to put together an article in a matter of hours and have ti ready to go for layout in the afternoon. Here is the story.

The Globe's Point for this week was fairly simple as the university broke at the end of this week for spring break. Here it is.

As I thought the week was settling down for the upcoming break, big news broke out Friday night, as there was an accident at the Pittsburgh Playhouse during one of the student performances. I went to a different show that night that I was covering, and when I got home, I immediately starting working on this story. My reporting continued throughout the weekend, which was a bit of a struggle as I was going home for break. While it was a horrible situation (I got my first nasty email too!), it was a great reporting experience.
