Last Friday afternoon, a university-wide email was sent from the Board of Trustees that our university president was resigning, which is probably one of the biggest things that has happened during my time here at Point Park. The editor-in-chief and I took on the huge task of covering this story, and it was very hard to get anything from university and faculty officials, other than what was said in the email. I mainly talked to students to get their thoughts on the issue. I surprising was fairly calm getting the story put together in just a few days, and it was great to work with a more experienced reporter on such a delicate issue. Here is the story!
Here is the Globe's Point for this week as well.
On Wednesday, I met with someone interested in copy editing for the paper. It was my first time holding an "interview;" I have always been the one being interviewed. It was a great experience for me and gave me some preparation for being editor-in-chief next year. The job felt much more real to me in this moment. I also did some research about a potential story, contacting some individuals talking about their work study hours being cut. I hope to find out more next week and get a story together.
On Saturday, I prepared for the next issue, writing the Globe's Point and news brief. I also did some general editing of stories for the upcoming issue, showing the new copy editor some tips and tricks.
