Almost time for a break

Updated: Dec 8, 2024

It's hard to believe that next week is the last week before the spring break, marking halfway through the semester. A lot has happened this semester, and I have experienced a lot with my practicum as the editor-elect for The Globe.

On Monday, we held our weekly pitch meeting and once again went over some basic elements of print writing such as structure, AP style, and sources. At layout, I covered the news section and helped an editor finish and edit two news pieces for this week's publication. It was a little chaotic, but good experience all around, helping me learn how to balance and how to better estimate spacing with articles that are not finished yet.

Here is my news piece for this week and the Globe's Point.

For the rest of the week, I worked on the next issue's Globe's Point and news briefs, as well as communicate with staff on pieces they were working on, helping them with sources, structure, and editing.
